When you need medical care, start with your community hospital. We provide the following services, as well as referrals for advanced specialist care should you need it.
Hours: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Our ER is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week for health emergencies. Our emergency services staff will assess you, provide treatment to stabilize your condition, and determine how and where to provide the best continuing care.

Certified phlebotomists are on site Monday through Saturday to perform outpatient blood draws and specimen collection: the laboratory sample collection station is conveniently located on the upper level of the west wing of the hospital, in close proximity to the inpatient wing as well as to the primary care center operated by the Community Health Center of the North Country. Most samples are analyzed on site by our licensed staff; specialized or rarely ordered testing may be sent to a state-approved laboratory for analysis.

Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine
Why travel out of town when you can see a highly trained orthopedic surgery and sports medicine specialist at Gouverneur Hospital? Our orthopedic surgeons specialize in everything from hand surgery, pediatric orthopedic surgery, knee, shoulder, and hip surgery, arthroscopy, and more. They received their training and experience at big medical centers like Tufts University, McGill University, and Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Consultations available: call 315-261-5850.

Our respiratory therapists provide care for patients admitted to our inpatient unit, as well as outpatient care by appointment. Sleep disorders diagnosis and treatment program started August, 2014. The Sleep Lab is located in the new Hospital.
Patients may be admitted to Gouverneur Hospital for acute medical care upon the request of their practitioner. The Hospital has newly constructed, modern acute care rooms located in the west wing, where patients receive high-quality care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Visitors should check in at the registration desk on the upper floor of the west wing. Those needing rehabilitation services to help with the transition from hospital to home may qualify for "swing-bed status," which allows patients who no longer need 24-hour nursing care to stay in a beautiful inpatient wing room for on-going services such as IV therapy, physical therapy, or skilled nursing care. Medicare will pay 100% of expenses for up to 20 days for qualifying patients.
